Festival Statesmen Youth Chorus have gone from strength to strength since forming in 2009 under the direction of Jonathan Bligh. A dynamic all-male a cappella group, FSYC formed to provide a platform for young Adelaide singers to achieve vocal and performance excellence.
In only a few short years they’ve filled their shelves with trophies and have been crowned 2013 National Youth Barbershop Chorus Champions, 2013 National Open Chorus Silver Medalists, 2012 winners at the Adelaide Eisteddfod for Choral Excellence Award, Open Small Choir, Open Male Choir and William Harrison Chamber Choir. If that wasn’t enough to weigh down the shelves, they are also the 2011 Pan Pacific Region Gold Medallist Youth Chorus and Open Chorus Bronze Medallists! WOW!
With those impressive results it’s no surprise that among their ranks of singers are several award winning quartets, including 2013 National Youth Quartet Champions – Fishbowl Boys (who also placed 3rd in Open Quartets) and Youth Silver Medallists – Now In Stereo (who were also crowned Australia’s Most Improved Barbershop Quartet).
