Welcome to our newest series, Warm Up Wednesday!
Each episode will feature a new group, vocalist or director taking us through their favourite warm ups and exercises for a cappella.

We have created this series as a way to not only share some awesome resources for a cappella groups, choirs, singers and beyond, but also to help show the world more of our Aussie A Cappella community!

Our first episode features Vox Pop from the QUT Music Society.

HOW TO BE FEATURED IN AN EPISODE OF WARM UP WEDNESDAY

Check out the details below for a quick run down of what we’re looking for.

First up, you can make your group’s video as simple or as fun as you like – we know everyone has their own individual style, so we only want to encourage this!

INTRODUCTION:
Be sure to tell us who you are – introduce your group, tell us your name, if you have a particular role within your group, and any recent events for your group (either something you’ve just performed, or even something that you are working towards).

THE WARM UP:
Give us a quick explanation of what your chosen warm up is. Make sure to explain it in a simple yet concise way, and to mention what the possible benefits are of working this exercise into your warm up routine. Then you can demonstrate it for us!

OUTRO:
Do a quick summary, plug your social media and sign off. Super simple!

SO WHAT DO I NEED TO SUBMIT?
Just your footage – try and make your footage as high quality as possible. If you’ve got a DSLR handy, use that, but most modern iPhones / smartphones have great quality cameras now. Try and film in a spot with great lighting. The darker the spot, the grainier your footage will be.

If you happen to have a microphone handy that you can either plug into your camera, or record externally to sync with your footage, that would be a bonus, but definitely not a must – so long as your audio isn’t too quite or full of background noise, it will work perfectly!

We’d love to include a few photos of your group too (2 to 4 is plenty), as well as any particular branding / logo that your group may have.

HOW DO I SEND IT TO YOU?
Because your files will probably be big sizes, using Google Drive or Dropbox will probably be the easiest way to get them to us. You can include a link to your files in our form below or otherwise email them to us at: alex(at)vocalaustralia.com

WHERE WILL THIS BE PUBLISHED?
Episodes will primarily be posted on Vocal Australia’s Youtube Channel. We’ll also post teasers on Vocal Australia’s Facebook page with crossposting features enabled for your group. We’d love it if you encouraged your singers to share the episodes themselves from there too.

ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
Try to make sure any materials you present are copyright free – i.e. if you know the warm up you’re presenting is a signature exercise of a particular choir or vocal group, then maybe don’t use that one. Make sure anyone included in your video gives their permission to be filmed and put online.

We’ll keep in touch with you throughout the editing process and make sure you get a chance to proof the final edit of the video before it is published.

Have fun creating your video!
