Congratulations to AUS-ACA SA State Final Champions Now In Stereo, a youth barbershop quartet based in Adelaide. The group formed in 2010 when members Mitch Bartel, John Khammash, Ryan O’Dea, and Sama Aghili were introduced to the barbershop style while students at Charles Campbell Secondary School. All members of the Festival Statesmen Youth Chorus, Now In Stereo boasts a repertoire of both barbershop classics and contemporary radio hits, treading the line between popular styles and the unique harmonic language characteristic of the barbershop sound. For audiences unfamiliar with barbershop harmony singing, Now In Stereo’s vivacious comedy and spot-on musicianship makes for a friendly introduction.

Awarded the Most Improved Quartet at the 2013 Barbershop Harmony Australia National Competition (after ranking high in the Youth and Open divisions) is a testament to the group and their effort in the past four years. Fresh out of school Now In Stereo are holding their own against seasoned veterans and recently took first prize in the Open A Cappella section in the Adelaide Eisteddfod as well as sweeping the AUS-ACA SA State Final, taking home first runner-up as well as special awards for:

  • Best Soloist: John Khammash – Kids
  • Best Comedy Song: Good Vibrations
  • Best Contemporary Song: Kids
  • Best Band (3-10 singers)
