NEWS: Unfortunately The Magnets have had to cancel their Sydney show on 12 Feb. Details and apologies from The Magnets below:

“We regret to announce that we have had to cancel our show and workshop in Sydney on 12th February, and must express our apologies to everyone who had bought tickets or was hoping to come. Once in a while an opportunity comes in that requires a hard choice to be made, and on this occasion we’ve had a booking for two concerts in India (our first ever in that country) that will help underwrite the whole tour.

Unfortunately the resulting flight changes mean that we won’t arrive in Sydney in time for the show. We very much hope we will get another opportunity to play in your lovely city again soon. We’re happy to say that the rest of the Australian dates in Adelaide, Perth and Albany are going ahead as scheduled.”

Special Announcement:

We are very excited to announce the Winners of “The Magnets Competition” for 2012.

Congratulations to:

Elisha Keen (Sydney), and Tracy Radbone (Adelaide).

We will be in touch soon to organise collection / delivery of your tickets.  Have a great night!

AND A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE MAGNETS:

“A SONIC PHENOMENON YOU HAVE TO SEE AND HEAR TO BELIEVE…” The UK Guardian ****

Glorious vocal harmonies and incredible beatboxing from one of the must see acts on the current British music scene. Literally a ‘six-man sound machine’ these Edinburgh Fringe favourites restyle and subvert your favourite tunes totally a-cappella.

“A breathtaking, sexy and postmodern show” – The Scotsman *****

A Cappella stars The Magnets are a must see act on the international live music scene with a reputation for electrifying festival appearances across the globe. Sonically stunning, spectacularly theatrical and utterly inclusive, their glorious vocal harmonies and jaw dropping beatboxing have attracted an incredibly wide-ranging audience, and introduced many to unaccompanied singing for the first time. Now it is Australia’s turn to find out why this ‘six-man sound machine’ is causing such a stir, as their sell-out Edinburgh Fringe show makes its debut in Australia this February. Packed with musical sophistication, vocal stunts, cool moves, engaging humour and plenty of audience participation, ‘Gobsmacked’ has the wow factor of a Stomp-style sensation and the dynamics of a great rock concert, all without an instrument in sight.

At the root of The Magnets success lays a talent for radically restyling much loved songs, from classics by Blondie, Blur and the Jackson 5, to current hits such as Rolling in the Deep by Adele. Show highlights include a bossa-nova version of Bon Jovi’s Living on a Prayer, the audience’s choice the band’s trademark A-Z medleys (will it be bands or movies?), and beatboxer Andy Frost’s show stopping mouth drumming solo. The Magnets, simply great music made simply with the mouth.

This group are flying at their peak – a pop-rock performance phenomenon” – Australian Stage.

The Magnets are an irresistible force of vocal attraction” The Advertiser, Adelaide.

“Their talents will leave you gobsmacked… definitely shouldn’t be missed!” – Adelaide Theatre Guide.
